Naidoc Week Celebrations
This week, MacKillop College celebrated and recognised the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week began with a BBQ breakfast for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families.
Both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and non-Aboriginal students experienced traditional activities, meals, and games.
NAIDOC Week is also an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories, and in many of our classes, students shared their learnings and knowledge.
A big thank you to our Aboriginal Education Workers, who coordinated the great activities throughout the week.
Transition to University Pathways Evening
A big thank you to Mrs. Jo Pilgrim, the College Leader of Career Transitions and Pathways, who ran a very informative evening for Year 12 students and families on Wednesday evening. Year 12 students move into their final term of schooling after the break and are very much starting to think about university or job applications. The college is fortunate to have a dedicated career leader who can guide students through this time of transition from school to life beyond.
Mary MacKillop Day Celebrations, Term 3
The MacKillop College community will come together on Tuesday, August 20, to celebrate the Feast of Our Patron Saint. A detailed letter has been sent to families outlining that the day will begin with a Mass followed by a celebration of sharing a meal, games, and activities.
In addition to the day's cost, which covers the games and activities, students will have the opportunity to purchase their lunch or to buy additional game and activity tickets.
I have had some queries in regards to the costs. The $30.00 will provide 4 hours of entertainment (much of which the College will be hiring), which, compared to community events, is a relatively cheap day. As always, no student will be disadvantaged due to affordability. If you would like to discuss financial assistance, please contact the College Business Manager, Samantha Fletcher, at 6583 2632.
Additional tickets purchased will contribute to the Mary MacKillop College Fund, which supports various communities and charities that MacKillop College supports.
A Great Finish to Semester One
In following up on my letter from earlier this week, I want to congratulate all students who have committed themselves wholeheartedly to their studies in Terms 1 and 2, and to all students who have involved themselves in the faith, service, arts, and sporting opportunities that are provided. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are very grateful to have you as part of our great community. You will have noticed that in communication, social media, and school stationery, we have adopted the phrase #We are MacKillop. This is only true because of the effort and involvement of the great majority of our students, staff, and families.
Preparing for Semester Two - Renewing Semester One Academic Report and Committment to Learning Profiles
My letter this week also encouraged students and families to take some time to evaluate the Semester One Academic Report and the two Commitment to Learning Profiles issued in Terms 1 and 2, and to use these to set some goals for Semester Two.
Can I also please ask that all families check uniforms, shoe condition, skirt lengths, sports shorts, etc. and rectify any that do not meet the College Code of Presentation, which can be found on Page 22 of the Student Handbook located on Compass/Community/School Documentation/Student Resources.
Once again, my sincerest thank you for your ongoing support.

Street Retreat
Last weekend, from Thursday through Sunday, six MacKillop Year 11 students had the opportunity to join other Year 11 students from our Diocese secondary schools in Brisbane for a street retreat. This programme is designed to provide students with the opportunity to take part in volunteer outreach with the marginalised in our community.
Over the course of the course of three days, students worked alongside a broad variety of volunteer organisations to serve the needs of people currently finding themselves in the situation of being poor and homeless.
Students learned about hostile architecture, deliberately designed to be unfriendly to anyone having to sleep rough. They learned about the essentials for survival on the street, the many forms of homelessness, and saw firsthand some of the judgement and avoidance experienced by people who are in a homeless situation. Students also saw some of the multitude of ways in which compassion can take form—sometimes as faceless volunteers peeling potatoes or washing dishes; other times in a more face-to-face role in serving meals, a cuppa, or a hamper.
Our students learned to face and strip away their prejudice and fear and to embrace a stranger as the unique person they are.
The stated purpose of Street Retreat is to promote school evangelisation and catechesis in a way that engages the passion, imagination, and commitment of students to live as Christian disciples within the Catholic community. I believe that this purpose has been well achieved and that the hearts of our young people have been touched, changed, and grown as people for whom compassion will be lived as part of their faith.

Year 7
Congratulations
As we wrap up the first semester at MacKillop College, we are immensely proud of our Year 7 students and their remarkable achievements. Transitioning to high school is a significant milestone, and our Year 7 cohort has embraced it with enthusiasm, resilience, and a positive attitude. They have demonstrated excellent academic performance, actively participated in various co-curricular activities, and shown growth in their personal and social development. They have fostered a strong sense of community, making their first semester a success. We look forward to witnessing their continued progress and achievements in Semester 2.
Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all Year 7 students for a fantastic Athletics Carnival. Last week, the senior and junior ovals were transformed into a sea of colour, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
The day was filled with numerous competitive events and races, providing excitement and challenges for everyone involved. Alongside the competition, there was plenty of fun, making the event enjoyable for all.
Congratulations to those age champions and those students who were selected on the MacKillop team to go to the Diocesan Championships in Term 3.
Science Medallists
Congratulations to the 7 Science Medalists for their second topic. Great job!
June 4 Viking presentation at MacKillop College with Mr. Westman
Year 7 attended a presentation by Mr. James Westman on the different features of Viking life, weapons, and armour. We learned about the roles of farmers and warriors and the differences between men and women. We also learned about the different types of weapons, their costs, uses, and effectiveness in battle. Thank you, Mr. Westman!

Year 8
Term 2 has been jam-packed; our students have had so many different academic, sporting, and co-curricular activities on offer. I want to congratulate Year 8 on their approach to these opportunities. From Connect and Belong Day, where students completed a number of activities designed to help them build healthy and trusting relationships with their peers, to the Athletics Carnival last week, I have been incredibly impressed by the manner in which Year 8 have conducted themselves.
I am going to do something a little unconventional and recommend a movie as a great holiday activity. I recently went and saw the "Inside Out 2" movie with my family and found it a great snapshot of the challenges of adolescence.
For teenagers, the film offers a unique and accessible way to understand their own mental health. By personifying emotions, the film helps young viewers recognise and validate their feelings, fostering emotional intelligence and empathy. The movie gives plenty of opportunities to have conversations with your young person about their mental wellbeing, coping mechanisms, and the importance of embracing all emotions as part of a healthy psyche.
On behalf of the Year 8 Pastoral Care team, I wish all students and staff a safe and relaxing break.
Year 8 Elective Textiles
Year 8 Elective Textiles Students worked on creating a Monster Toy inspired by Pixar's Monsters Inc. Students developed skills in pattern making and construction as they developed their own design and used both hand and machine embroidery to create their monster toys. Well done Year 8!

Year 9 were amazing competitors and supporters at our annual Athletics Carnival last week. Personally, I was incredibly impressed by the manner in which both the boys and girls groups participated in all competitive and novelty events on the day. It was a pleasure to spend the day with this enthusiastic and good-spirited group of students.Congratulations to all who participated and gave it their best go and made the day fun.

Year 9 Textiles Incursion
The Year 9 Textiles class had the opportunity to complete an immersive workshop day learning creative textile techniques such as dyeing with liquid radiance dyes, free-motion machine embroidery, gelli printing, mono printing, stencilling, stamping, and rubbing onto fabrics. Students will now utilise the fabrics and textures developed within the workshop to create a textile artwork over Term 3. We cannot wait to see the creative ways they arrange their fabrics into textile artworks!

End of the Semester
College reports are ready and accessible on your child’s dashboard in Compass, providing students the opportunity to reflect on their progress, identify areas of strength and weakness, and set goals for the upcoming semester. I encourage parents and carers to engage in meaningful discussions with their children about their achievements and areas for improvement. Let's celebrate their successes and inspire them to reach even greater heights next semester.
After a semester packed with hard work and numerous accomplishments, it's time for Year 9 students to take a well-deserved break. The holidays offer an excellent opportunity for students to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge their batteries. I encourage all students to make the most of this time by engaging in activities they enjoy and spending quality time with family and friends.
On behalf of the Year 9 Pastoral Team, I hope that each student and family remain safe and well, with time to rest and have fun during the next two weeks.
Happy holidays, Year 9, take care, and see you soon!

Year 11 History Term 2
This term our Year 11 History buffs have had an exciting run attending several educational excursions. Read on for all the details.
May 8–9, Ramses II Exhibit in Sydney
Earlier this term, Year 11 Ancient History students were accompanied by Mrs. Edwards to Sydney to attend the Ramses II Exhibit, where students experienced a wonderful display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, learning about death and funerary customs, everyday life and craft, foreign policy, and warfare. Ramses II was a pharaoh in New Kingdom Egypt and forms part of the HSC Ancient History course, so students will be able to refer to this experience in their future studies. We also walked through the Ancient Australia exhibit, examining a variety of displays on the First Nation’s people, megafauna, and impacts of colonisation on the conservation and heritage of Aboriginal culture and histories. Following lunch, the group then attended the NSW State Library for a guided tour of the facilities and effective research techniques, which was extremely helpful in their current unit on historical investigations. The group would also like to thank Mr. Evans for driving them down. Highlights included: seeing ancient artefacts, jewellery, funerary items, sarcophagi, and mummified animals up close; losing Isaac not once but twice to his shopping addiction; playing games on the bus, including Bonnie being perplexed by Mr. Evan’s game of I Spy (which will forever reverberate in Bonnie’s mind); and learning that Tobey really likes the Connex tunnel. Overall, it was a great learning experience and a highlight of Stage 6 Ancient History.
Ramses II Exhibit
May 30, Ancient Australia
Year 11 Ancient History students attended an excursion to local locations with a focus on Birpai culture and history. The excursion allowed students the opportunity to engage with Elder Uncle Bill on the country while examining culturally and historically significant sites such as North Brother, Shelley Beach, and the Googik track.
We learned about men's and women's businesses (North Brother and Shelley’s Beach, respectively), identified and examined shell middens in North Haven, scarred trees, traditional tools, bushtucker food, oral histories, and other traditional cultural practices specific to Birpai. Students also reflected on the value of studying ancient Australian history to contribute to their understanding of the cultural and spiritual significance of local sites and to discuss issues relating to conservation and the promotion of Australian heritage. Thank you, Uncle Bill and Sarina Hickson-Flissinger, for sharing your time and knowledge with us.

Breathe
Yes, it's holiday time! Or maybe it's just time for a well-deserved break. I mentioned to Year 11 at last week’s year meeting that it was time to take a breath. The assessments are done for the term, and school reports are about to come out. We can afford to slow down and take a breath as we have completed another term of senior studies.
BUT (yes, there is a but...), we cannot afford to stop all together. When the reports come out, reflect on them. Where can you focus for term 3? Can you work on something over the holidays or look at that assessment task feedback now?
By all means, enjoy the holidays and the time with family and friends, as this is important, but do not stop! Think of your future self and what you can do now to help them out.

Year 12
Happy Holidays
This term, for Year 12, has finished with a flurry of assessment tasks.
For nearly all students, it has been a busy and productive time. Trial exams start in week three of next term, so the holidays too will have many students using their time in preparation for this “HSC foundation” block.
With that in mind, I encourage all students to keep perspective and balance in mind. Study and preparation are important, but none are more important than friendship, family, love, health, and gratitude.
Year 12, I hope that you can give time to all of these things in the coming weeks, and may you come back refreshed and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.
Have a great break, everyone.

MacKillop College Athletics Carnival
Last Tuesday, we hosted our annual athletics carnival, and what a beautiful day we were blessed with. It was fantastic to see so many students embrace the carnival atmosphere, support each other, and cheer on their houses throughout the day. The day ran smoothly, with students showcasing their athleticism and having a great time at either the competitive or novelty events.
In the two weeks leading up to the carnival, over 100 students participated in the pre-events, including the 1500m, 800m, 400m, and high jump. The comradery among the students competing in the pre-events was great to be a part of; our students are to be commended for the way they support each other.
Congratulations to all placegetters, record breakers, and students that finished the carnival as age champions or runner-ups.
Thank you to all staff that ensured that the day ran smoothly, in particular to our maintenance team (Ben, Chris, Jason, and Bruce) for going above and beyond to ensure our carnival facilities were well set up. To Maxine, Jodie, Megan, Amanda, and Bron, who kept everyone well fed.
Finally, to Lucy and Anna, our sports assistants, who worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to, during, and after our carnival to ensure the event ran smoothly for all involved.
It was great to see parents and grandparents coming along to support their children on this day.
The age champions and runner-ups will be presented with their trophies at the Week 3 Assembly. The winning house will be revealed at the Week 3 Assembly in a special edition of All the Rave with Archie and Maeve.

Open Girl’s Soccer
Our Open Girl’s team played O’Connor College, Armidale, in Round 2 of the NSWCCC Football Knockout competition at Coffs Harbour.
The girls were absolutely on fire! A formidable performance against an opposition that didn’t give up. We opened the scoring in the 8th minute, with Frida Dudfield finding the back of the net. This opened the flood gates with the goals continuing to stream in about every 2 minutes, with goals to Grace Davies, Jasmine Lacey (2), Sophie Gallagher, Chelsea Gallagher, Gracie Huxley, and Arliah Morris tipping one in before halftime. The girls went into the half-time break 8-0.
The girls started the second half in the same manner they finished the second, with Grace scoring two minutes in. While the opposition kept trying, they didn't manage to get the ball over halfway with our backline and goalie (Charlee Bailey) having a relatively quiet day. Given we had 7 players needing to back up in the next game, we backed off; however, the girls still scored another 7 unanswered goals with Hannah Gresswell and Charlotte Taylor-Featuring in the second half.
A special mention to Chelsea Gallagher and Grace Davies, both bagging hat ricks. The girls should be super proud of their dominant performance, winning 16-nil with Charlee Bailey keeping a clean sheet.
Congratulations to our captain, Chelsea Gallagher, on being awarded the MVP. She dominated in both defence and attack. The girls now play All Saints, Maitland, in the State Quarter Final next term on home soil.

Dio Junior Girls Soccer
The 7-9 MacKillop Girls Football team had a fantastic day in Coffs at the recent gala. They started off with a draw against Xavier College and remained undefeated for the rest of the competition.
The girls were commended by multiple referees and officials on their positioning and passing, a skill they were focusing on throughout the day.
The girls made it to the finals and secured a 4-0 win against St. Paul’s Kempsey. The team has progressed to Round 2 against O'Connor Catholic College Armidale. MVP: Frieda Dudfield for being absolutely electric on the wing!
Well done, team MacKillop!
Dio Boys Soccer
After being placed in the group of death, similar to group B of this year's Euro 2024, the boys started brightly against Mount St. Pat’s. We played some progressive football, but unfortunately, we were unable to convert our positive general gameplay into goals. Caught on the break and conceding the first goal, we continued to play our stuff and were able to level up at 1-11. Unfortunately, our opponent got a second goal, and we fell to a 2-1 defeat.
It was a similar pattern throughout the day, and our game against Regional was a carbon copy of our first match: conceding first, going on to level, before ultimately losing the tie.
The injury list began to mount, and in our third game against Trinity, we began to tire. Another great display from the boys; however, we were unable to find the back of the net and suffered a 1–0 defeat.
At this point, we were unable to progress to the finals, so the focus for our final game was simple: to win. Again, up against a very strong St. John’s Woodlawn, this was going to be difficult; they looked to be one of the better teams in our pool. We certainly matched our opponent and had some attacking intent in and around their final third, but again, we were unable to score. 0–0 was the final score.
The standard of the competition was extremely high, and there was some great football on display. Despite not progressing to the finals, we were able to give a good account of ourselves. The boys can be proud of their efforts as they represented themselves and the college proudly, always showing respect to both themselves and their opponents. MVP: Lucas Merrick

The first game was a solid win against Hastings Secondary College, 17-3, with our midcourt dominating with strong angled drives and capitalising on turnovers. Game 2 against St. Paul’s Stars was the closest game of the day, and the defensive pressure all up the court and accurate passing into the circle gave us the edge, coming out on top 17-6.
The last two round games against SCAS White and Wauchope High Skye saw strong defensive pressure limit both oppositions from scoring any goals, giving us very convincing wins (29-0 and 38-0, respectively), also highlighting the dominance of our shooting circle. The final game in the crossover play-off against St. Paul’s Shooters started close, with both teams going goal for goal for most of the first half, but the building of pressure by our defence meant the turnovers started to come our way, and we won 18-5. All girls conducted themselves with pride and sportsmanship, displaying integrity, positivity, and the will to win. I am excited to see the team develop in preparation for the next round held in August. Well done, girls! Thank you, too, to Makayla Mott for being our umpire today.
The team consisted of: Ruby Winters, Chelsea Hodges, Madilyn Tinley, Zoe Townsend (co-captain), Olivia Edmund, Ruby Williams, Madison Flowers, Tilly Sinclair (co-captain), and Bianca Harrison. MVP: Tilly Sinclair

7/8 Boys Black
The boys had a loss in their first game against SCAS. Followed by a great win against St. Pauls to get their spirits up. Overall, it was a great day, winning 3/6 games and coming 4th in the competition out of 7 teams. Jack Lacey was MVP, playing brilliantly in defence and always being positive and humble.

The 7/8 Boys Gold team showcased exceptional skills and teamwork at the Schools Cup, which saw them dominate all games. Their swift ball work and athleticism led to the team being undefeated on the day, taking them through to the Regional Finals in August. The boys’ respect for their teammates, opponents, and umpires demonstrated their true sportsmanship. I am so proud of each player on the team, as they all played an integral part in the day’s success. A special mention goes to Ben Romer, who is awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Day for his precision in goal shooting. The team consisted of Ben Romer, Oto

9/10 Girls MacKillop Black
Congratulations to all the girls that played on the 9/10 MacKillop Black team. For a number of the girls, this was their first time playing in this competition. This team was very competitive throughout all of their games and finished 5th overall. The team consisted of Charlotte Weatherley, Janaye Singh, Riley Daley, Gemirah Fernando, Lani Warren, Imogen Turnbull, Lucy Geary, Micaela Mitchell, and Indy Murray.
Lucy and Indy shot beautifully every game; Charlotte, Micaela, and Gemirah were very versatile, playing multiple positions on the court; Janaye was a very consistent and strong centre court player; and Imogen, Riley, and Lani played excellently in the defensive end.
Well done to all the girls, and a special mention goes to Charlotte Weatherley, who was voted by her teammates as a player.

9/10 Girls Gold Team
Last week, we had the opportunity to showcase some of our awesome netball skills in Port Macquarie.
We started strong, winning our first four games convincingly against Westport High, Wauchope High School, and SCAS. This success led us to top Pool B and face the runners-up from Pool A in the final game against St. Joseph’s Regional College. Despite their strength, they narrowly defeated us by 5 points. Our girls showed incredible resilience and effort throughout, especially considering the cooler weather conditions.
The players performed exceptionally well and really enjoyed the new rolling substitution rule, which made substitutions much easier and smoother during the games.
Unfortunately, we won't be advancing to the next level. Wishing the best to both the girls' and boys' Year 7 and 8 teams! MVP: Caitlin Davis

9/10 Boys
The 9/10 boys netball team played some wonderful netball throughout the trials last Thursday.
There was very strong opposition from Wauchope High, St. Columbans, and St. Joseph’s Regional High School.
The boys played each opposition through two rounds and showed grit and improved structure through the second round, significantly improving results at Wauchope High and St. Joseph’s Regional College and finishing third overall.
The boys were very positive in the way they approached the game, showing support for each other and showing respect for opponents and referees.
Thanks to Lane Jordan, Millie McGrath, and Madeline Strong for their support through referring.
Noah Pociask picked up the most valuable player for the day, and he was well complemented by Sam Ramke, Patrick Green, Jesse Andrews, Paxton Blake, Jack Ryan, Flynn Burridge, Darcy Middleton, Noah Gunn, Jack Merrick, and Riley Bates, who assisted with scoring.

Country Cup Regional Final
Under 18's Boys
In a showcase of determination and resilience, Mackillop College's rugby league team faced formidable challenges at the regional finals of the Country Cup Rugby League Gala Day. Battling through illness and injuries, the team called upon valiant Year 10 students to step up and fill crucial positions.
Their first encounter of the day against Hastings Secondary College proved to be a tightly contested affair, with Mackillop College narrowly falling short by two tries. Despite adversity, Mackillop's defence shone brightly, especially noteworthy when they had a player sent to the sin bin. The team displayed commendable spirit and nearly clinched a remarkable victory.
Moving forward to their next game against Newman College, Mackillop College started strongly in the first half, heading into the break trailing by just four points. However, fatigue crept in during the second half, allowing Newman College to seize control and ultimately secure the win. Throughout the match, Mackillop College exhibited unwavering resilience, dedication, and sportsmanship, earning respect for their tenacity on the field.
The forwards, spearheaded by Vaughan Munro, Tyse Thrower, and Cody Mills, provided the team with crucial momentum through powerful runs up the middle. Meanwhile, Cooper Lorger, Cruz Lewis, and Jimmy Strahorn orchestrated the backline with precision, executing outstanding set plays and moves.
Cody Mills emerged as the standout performer of the day, earning the title of Most Valuable Player for his impactful contributions in gaining ground and leading the charge from the front.
Despite the day ending without the desired silverware, Mackillop College's performance was a testament to their character and camaraderie. They showcased the true spirit of rugby league, leaving a lasting impression with their display of skill and sportsmanship throughout the Country Cup Rugby League regional finals.

Under 16’s Girls
Starting the day with only 12 (in a 13-a-side competition), the girls weren’t full of much confidence. In our first game, we started slowly with a lot of dropped balls, which left us down 10-0 at halftime to Woolgoolga High. The girls knew what they needed to improve on and came out firing in the second half, ending up winning the game 18-10. A great comeback win! In our second game, we were up against Camden Haven, and the girls started where they left off. Their defence was outstanding, and the girls ran away with the game and came out on top 14-0. The best back of the day went to Lily Moseley, who also took out player of the tournament as awarded by the NRL organisers. The best forward went to Ella Oliver, who tackled her heart out like she always does. Most improved went to Indy Murray, who had never played prior to these school tournaments and was thrown in the middle and matched it with the best. The girls now progress on to the Northern State Final in August. A special thanks to Geoff Leary for helping us out on the day.
Under 13’s Girls
Last week, MacKillop competed in the NRL Country Cup rugby league 13-a-side competition. The girls have been training with local development officers to improve their skills, especially tackling.
On the day, there were four teams registered to play in the U14s division. They faced Camden Haven High School first. This game was fast-paced and hard-hitting. Unfortunately, Camden Haven were too good and won the first game 2 tries to 1 (10-4). Our try was scored by Frankie with a strong attacking run to the line.
Next in the draw, MacKillop competed against St. Paul's Kempsey. The girls grew in confidence and demonstrated their ability with some fast-paced attacking skills and very few ball handling errors. Scoring an impressive 40-0 win. Tries going to London, Frankie, with Grace scoring 2 and Alya getting a hat trick with 3 tries. Alya also secured a number of conversions.
At the end of the day, they played their third game against Woolgoolga High School. This team was well trained, with some experienced players. MacKillop unfortunately lost this game with a few missed tackles.
The girls demonstrated great sportsmanship, and many new players gained confidence as the games progressed. Some great talent from our more experienced players. Well done to all for the first time we have played 13 a side.
Team: Frankie Healey, Amelia Pettitt, Millie Byrne, Grace Byrne, Layla Fel, Asha Maher, Ayla Vonbun, London Curtis, Zy Hogan, Ellie Howard, Annabelle Wickham, Emily Cook, Shannon Lusung, Sophia Wilmot, Isabella Hawkins, Siena King, and Charlotte Fitzpatrick.
Best and Fairest: Alya Vonbun
Basketball, New South Wales State Finals
The BNSW Open Boys State Finals were a hard-fought competition with the best
teams from around the state vying for the win. On day one, the boys played well as a unit.
and got wins against both St. Augustine’s College and St. Clair High School. On day two, the boys kept up their winning streak with a win against Central Coast Adventist School to move out of the group stages at the top of their pool with a 3-0 record. Moving into the semi-finals, we were set to face St. Dominic’s College, who had the best of the team the week prior. The boys excelled during this game and ended up winning the semi-final 48-30, moving on to the grand final against St. Augustine’s College. The Grand Final started off slowly, and the boys were down by the first half. After a really strong rally back, the boys tied the game up, which led to a nail-biting end to the game. After going tit-for-tat with St. Augustine’s and playing some strong defence, the boys were up 40-39 with less than 7 seconds left on the clock. St. Augustine’s managed to score, making the score 41-40 in their favour. After our timeout, the boys had less than 4 seconds left to score but were unfortunately unable to get the ball to fall, ending with a defeat in the Grand Final to St. Augustine’s College with a final score of 41-40. All Schools Touch Football
7/8 Girls - Gold Team
Congratulations to all the girls that represented MacKillop at the All Schools Touch Football tournament.
The team is to be commended on their sportsmanship, and they should be very proud of their outstanding results across all seven games.
They progressed through the round of games, finishing second in their pool. In the semi-final against Regional, they had an excellent 4-0 win. The grand final was a very tough game against St. Clare’s High School. For the majority of the game, the score was 2-2; however, the final score was 4-2, with St. Clare's being the eventual winner.
Thanks for a great tournament, girls. You were a pleasure to coach.
The team consisted of Tilly Sinclair (Captain), Ayla Vonbun, London Curtis, Grace Byrne, Millie Byrne, Tahlia Sutherland, Lucia Hurdle, Ruby Winters, Indie Gardoll-Marjoribank, Sophia Wilmot, Amelia Pettitt, Olivia Edmund, and Indy Lorger.
Congratulations to Tilly Sinclair, who was voted by her teammates as a player.
7/8 Girls - Black Team
What a beautiful day it was for the 7/8 all-school touch-gala day. The girls B team started the day with narrow losses to Great Lakes Tuncurry and Woolgoolga, losing by only one try in both games. They went down to Regional 4-1 before then having a 1–1 all-draw with SCAS. The girls finished off with a loss to Hastings Secondary College. With the majority of the team being made up of 7th grade students, it was a great experience and learning curve for them all. They displayed exceptional sportsmanship and are to be congratulated on the way they participated throughout the day. Players went to Ingrid Maher. MVP: Ingrid Maher

7/8 Boys Team A
The team started the day very well, notching up wins against all teams in their round games. They were very impressive in both attack and defence. The controlled technical play from Lachie Walters and Tobias Rowlatt combined with the try-scoring ability of Rocky Mann and Jack Franklin resulted in some comfortable victories.
While this transferred into the semi-final match, it was unfortunately a different story in the final. The boys encountered an opponent with early enthusiasm who scored some quick tries, which the boys could not recover from. This resulted in a 4-2 loss.
Despite not coming away with the victory, every player was outstanding in the way they played and represented the college. Congratulations to all the players! MVP: Rocky Mann

9/10 Boys Team
Competing in the Mid-North Coast regional tournament, the team managed a day of two wins and two losses. While this did not qualify them for the state finals, they showed great enthusiasm and competitiveness all day.
With a few players who had never experienced representative touch football before, the boys improved with each and every game. Congratulations to all involved, with special mention to Cruz Lewis and Joey Thompson for their leadership of the team and skill in each game. MVP: Cruz Lewis/Joey Thompson.

9/10 Girls Team
It was a big day for the MacKillop girls, playing five-round games. The team improved with every game and finished undefeated. The girls scored a total of 23 tries and conceded just three before proceeding to the finals. Captain Milla Swain led the team well. In the semi-final, MacKillop came up against Regional. The score was 2-2 for quite some time, until MacKillop ran away with the win with a score of 6-2.
The grand final was against St. Clare's Catholic High School. Defensively, the girls were strong. Wingers Janaye Singh, PJ Wright, and Autumn Curtis were fantastic and kept up the communication when fatigue was setting in. Tilly Sinclair and Claire Morris were strong in the ruck and kept the team going forward. Darcie Gleeson scored halfway through the game to make it 1-0. The girls were able to hold St. Claire’s out and were eventual winners with a final score of 1-0.
Congratulations to all of the girls who played with great determination and support for each other throughout the whole day. The MVP voted for by the players was Darcie Gleeson.
